I looks like you need to consider selling a product of your own, an e-book or online course. And look into affiliate sales – recommending products and services others can use that will earn you a commission. I think the site is great so now its time to start working your articles around topics that can earn you money.

Thank you for this post! I am starting to attempt to monetize my blog and have had no idea where to begin. You posting your earnings is very helpful to help me target some key ads without cluttering my site with trial and error attempts.

That’s exactly it Nicole! Let me do all the trial and error for you and report back on what works and what did not. Different sites will get different results with different products, but I can hopefully cut out some of the work but pointing out what consistently gives best results.

There’s much more to ShareASale than just displaying the banners as you learned. You might find this post useful How to Make Money with Affiliate Sales – a Case Study. Of course traffic numbers are also vital to success – more views = more clicks = more sales. Good luck Hana.

I think that because your blog is written in Vietnamese, your market for potential readers and therefore customers is restricted to people in your own country and of course this cuts down on your earning potential with a site such as yours. You are in a very competitive marketplace and have many many websites to compete with for traffic so unless you have something special on your site which sets you apart from the rest, or a certain style which people find especially engaging, getting huge volumes of traffic from people with money to spend is going to be very hard for you. Sorry.

I am off work due to injury to neck & left shoulder and unable to pick up over 10lbs… All my life I have worked 2 plus jobs and now for most of 2013 unable to physically work. I am looking for something to do from home….. Don’t quit understand blogging for pay but willing.. I do Pinterest but NO other social network and don’t want to for personal reasons. I am a 48 year old Mom of 2 Great adult children that have helped me through my injury and time off work. Can you help me start 2014 on the right foot and work toward an income from home? I am open any income ideas. Thank you

Hi Dianne and thanks for commenting. Its really hard to give you such general advice – I could write a book about all aspects of blogging and perhaps still not give you exactly what you are looking for. I would suggest especially in your circumstances where you want to avoid social media for personal reasons, that perhaps blogging is not the online platform you are looking for – you need to be very social, network a lot, put yourself out there in the public eye to be a blogger. And it tends to start more with a passion, an interest or an area of expertise or knowledge that you want to share with the world, which later becomes monetized. Starting a blog without a calling just with the idea of making money is sadly probably doomed to wasting a lot of your time and not earning you any money. You would be better aiming towards a less public role, perhaps as a virtual assistant? Or you could consider learning new skills you could learn and use online such as web development, graphic design services etc. But unless you have a strong idea in mind, blogging probably wouldn’t earn you a lot of money to replace income from a job. Sorry.

I like the look and the idea of your site. I guess you take a commission on any sales. However all of the pages I looked at and the stores I found, there weren’t any actual pictures of the cakes you could order. To be honest with you, I would not order a special cake online without having any idea of what it was going to look like. I think you need to go the extra mile, and either get the bakery to provide pictures, or get someone to do them for you. Then hopefully you’ll get more sales.

Thank you for your feedback. As of the moment, I’m still nurturing my site via valuable content and building relationship with potential long-term readers. I’d like to manage my website for the couple of months as a hobby. And when I think it has been established, I will sell my books and counselling services. Partly just luck, my site became really popular, people liked what I wrote about, loved my products, kept on pinning and linking to me and the money just comes as a result of that. Really, its all about the content – write content people want to read and share, find useful, fun or interesting and you’ll have it made. Traffic and engaged readers are pretty much the secret to success I think.
