Thanks so much for this post. You have included a lot of really practical suggestions. Sometimes I feel like a lot of bloggers just paste affiliate posts where ever on their blogs without promoting or talking about why they chose that affiliate. I try really hard to only promote products that I love and have used before. Thanks for the advice!

Thank you for sharing your insights into affiliate sales. At this point, I’m still growing my base as well as seeking companies to write reviews and work with. I do, however only write reviews for products I’ve actually used. Thanks again for your words of wisdom!

    Cheers,
    Marie

Thanks for emailing me and sharing this! Great tips. I love your idea of purchasing the products first, and writing a really great post with natural feeling links. Do you have any examples of posts you’ve done where you are using affiliate links blended in?

Well I don’t want to give away all of my secrets – but take a look at this one where I introduced that I had decided to take the Sewing with Knits course. I identified a problem that I was having and mentioned that I had found a solution to try out. I would report back on how it goes. So far I have posted 3 or 4 further posts on my progress with the ‘product’ and will be doing a round up at the end very shortly with a personal review and recommendation. And it really is genuine – I had the problem, I found a product and bought it, now I have used it and will provide a review. Its easier than ‘selling’ which I could never do. http://so-sew-easy.com/cowl-neck-knit-dress-free-pattern/

Stopping by from the DIY Sunday Showcase! Great tips! All of my affiliate links are with brands that I use and love, but you gave me some good ideas besides just having them in the sidebar. Thanks!

Stopping by from “Mop it Up Monday.” Thank for these ideas. I am starting to look at affiliate advertising but want to add it in a way that doesn’t clutter my site. I appreciate having some insight.

    Thanks,

I really liked and would also recommend your first point to be successful in affiliate marketing. I guess most of the niche bloggers are able to easily make money that multi niche blogs.
So it is very important to stick to a single niche in order to generate more affiliate sales.. Great post.. cheers

Hello Deby, very informative post, but i have a few questions, hope you will answer them:
How do you go with the keyword search for affiliate products? I mean, if for example i have a website on “wedding gifts” then what type of content would you add- just information posts along with sales posts like How to buy the best gift for your wedding and then add a few products in between or you will search for a keyword like ‘red wedding shoes’ and then write a post “top 5 red wedding shoes under $100” Which approach is better. Hope i am able to make u understand my question.

One more thing- does shareasale pay via paypal or not? I live in India but can i get my check deposited in a US bank(my husband is there)
