As always I love your info! I don’t get Google analytics I have it on my site but can’t make heads or tails out of most of it. Their figures are so far off from what I see on other analytics that it doesn’t ever look like I will get the numbers! Very discouraging…

I use three different places to see traffic, jetpack stats in WordPress, Statcounter and analytics and yes, they all count visitors and views slightly differently and do give different numbers – but the variation isn’t too far off from each other. Strange that Analytics is giving you wildly different numbers from your other tracking. It could be that one is tracking your own site views, and the other is not perhaps.

It can be a bit confusing when you start out, but keep with it, keep your eye on the dashboard for new campaigns to take part in, and use the bookmark tool to add your content to share with other bloggers.

    Hi Deby
I just thought I would share a link to an article that I just read about Google’s new algorithm (http://searchengineland.com/google-hummingbird-172816). I’m sure you are up on these things already but I thought of your post as I was reading it!

Yes I had seen this one before. It’s interesting to see in some of the comments that smaller sites and pages seem to be dropping out of the rankings in favor of the larger sites. One commenter writes that individual Etsy shops are no longer showing in results and all searches are directed to the Etsy page itself. I’m still sitting with a 30% drop in search engine traffic on the Sewing site and 60% drop at Moms Make Money. I guess Google wants us all to become super-sites and be advertisers with them. I think that is a big part of the key – they want to reward large sites with advertising budgets.

Super!!! Deby you are my monetizing idol. your one month gross income is equal to my annual income from all sources. Ofcourse rupee is far behind compared to the dollar but reading your monthly reports make me want to step up and take charge…thanks for sharing

Once again, I am amazed at your awesome results. I really appreciate the sharing of information as it gives me some basis for comparison against what I am trying to do.
A few months back I implemented some of the ads that you are running. I actually made a few dollars already! I just broke 1000 views a month this week, so I know I have a long way to go, but it is encouraging.
I have definitely had a few more opportunities with sponsors and such, and I am enjoying that as well.

As for Google- I am a non entity in their eyes. I will be working on that as well..

Still trying to build that audience!

Yay – well done on your first few dollars and in the increase in page views. Yes, your site is still quite modest and traffic is a major factor in what you earn online but keep plugging away with the awesome content, build your relationships with other bloggers and your followers and try to think of new places you can promote each week and it will come. When Google sees you are popular, then they only want to be friends with the popular kids so they will be your friend too and send you traffic. But it takes time…good luck with it all.

All I can say is “Wow”! I have been following you for several months and you’re such an inspiration. I love that you are so open about where your money comes from and share your insights on what went wrong and right during the month. My meager blogger income barely pays for my kids’ extracurricular activities, but I hope that if I continue to put in the time and effort and learn from bloggers like you who are generous with sharing their knowledge, I’ll be able to help foot the college bills when they come rolling in.

I think I was just lucky and stumbled into a good niche just because I loved it and had enthusiasm. There are plenty of sewing blogs, but perhaps none that concentrate on the same areas that I do. Keep at it, one day Google will notice how wonderful your content is and suddenly you’ll be on the first page and you’ll be made!

I tried to visit your site to take a look Kim but Blogger tells me your blog is closed down. I wonder if the site has a problem – could explain why things have suddenly dropped off!

Not gonna lie…it makes me want to cry and/or vomit when I see your income from blogging. lol! It would be such an enormous blessing if I could make even a quarter of what you’re able to make in a month. I need to start doing some homework on all this stuff!

Good to see someone making a good amount of money online. I wish I could do that too. I also own a blog but it receives a very small traffic. This just holds me back. I feel like going to give up.

Your site is very new, just a couple of months I think, and you don’t seem yet to have settled on a topic. Your site is about everything. But you cannot write about everything and appeal to everyone. You may do better if you pick one or two topics and write very well and intensively about those. I can see you live in Cambodia. Thats a place with a very interesting history and culture, and attracts lots of visitors. Have you considered writing a very useful website about your country for people who are researching it before visiting? That could do well for you.

Thank for your advice. You were right, I’m trying to apppeal to everyone raather that finding a specific topic. I’m glad you know Cambodia. I’ve created another blog about tourist http://www.cambodiatrips.org . I hope you can look at it and give me some feedback. The blog is very new and has only one post. Thanks in advance.

I really like it! I think this site is well laid out, looks professional and has the chance to be a great resource. If you can fill it with information and advice that will be useful to tourists then you could get lots of visitors, and have the chance to earn some good money. Write about what you know, what you love and what info you have that others are interested in and you will be a success.
