Thank you so much for this information. I just started blogging in january and only have about 40 followers using gfc & email together when is it appropriate to start persuing advertisers? How many followers or traffic do I need before companies are interested in advertising?

I signed up with Socialspark and was approved. I had several leads come in recently and accepted a few, then an advertiser made an offer. Most of these offers are small. Twenty dollars or so. I wrote up my post and submitted it. A small change was asked for and then I was approved. The next day I received my post back in HTML form and was told to copy and paste it exactly as is and publish. There was no instruction about editing it . Then you submit the url and are done. Well I suppose that I thought as soon as it was published that THEY came through with some of HTML converting robot. About 15 minutes later I took the post off my site. I sent about three urgent messages on their support “thing” but I don’t even see that those are posted. No real human beings that I could find anywhere. I researched and found several articles on the Net about writing HTML but I have not yet found how to take this garbled document and convert it back to the post that I wrote and that was approved, along with the visuals that are required. The other alternative is to let them come in and post but you must give them your blog info and password. Well should I get hacked or have troubles due to that I already can see that there is no human tech support that I can easily find. I did finally email the lady that I was to send my social posts too ( Facebook, Pinterest etc ) and let her know that I would not be doing that until this was resolved and that I probably wouldn’t be posting by the deadline after all. She cc’d someone else at the end of the day and I saw nothing by the following morning Point is, should I sign up with or try anything with another company I will ask up front if there are human beings around to answer questions, and how the final post is approved etc. I am on WordPress.org and I just wonder if others have the same sort of experience with either SS or other similar companies. OR if anyone knows how to take a html doc and turn it back to normal 🙂

When you write a post in WordPress, or in Blogger too, there are two tabs where you can write and edit your post. One is the plain text version and the other will show you the HTML version of what you have just typed. Instead of posting the html into the plain text tab, you should have posted it into the html tab and then it would have shown you the plain version and posted that automatically. It really is very very easy.
Look on the top right of the edit area – Visual is the post as it will be displayed and Text is the HTML equivalent.
Funny that you have not had a good response from their support – I’ve had some excellent support recently on a post that I wrote, and one lady emailed me backwards and forwards all day when I had questions about advertising.
Do give them another go – once you get the hang of where to post the html, it will be easy-peasy.
Drop me an email if you need help.

Someone answered this morning ( about 1/2 hour ago ) and just said to contact wordpress.org. ( She was the person on the cc that the first person asked to solve the problem : )

I have a Visual Tab and a Text Tab. There is no HTML tab. What they gave me ( their HTML rendition basically looks the same in both, aside from the font looking a little different ) What happens is, you write your post on their site. Similar to working in WordPress. You can save to draft and come back and forth as you edit it. Their visuals that you can use ( some required ) are on a sidebar.

When the final is approved, it is handed back to you as HTML. You paste that into WordPress and then …….( in my case ) Lose Your Mind 🙂

Give this a go. 1 – Open up a brand new blank post. 2 – Give it the correct title. 3 – Click on the TEXT tab. 4 – Paste in the html they gave you. 4 – Click back on the visual tab to see what it looks like. 5 – Preview the post in a new window – does it look OK?
That should be all you need to do.
If you still have problems – drop me an email and I’ll see if I can help you out with a little video tutorial and some screen shots.

I will answer those ladies and let them know the problem is solved and WHO solved it…they should probably ask you to post a little tech article about this. All of these stupid plug ins I was trying, etc!

Thank you thank you thank you 🙂

YAY – I popped over to your site and everything looks good. Easy when you know how – right? Well done for persevering. Next time you’ll be able to do one of these sponsored posts in no time – it’s good money.
I also allow them to post directly for me – saves me even more time and I just compose straight into their editor, use the links etc they provide and submit. I don’t worry too much about giving them my password, as I know lots of bloggers do and I’ve never heard of any complaint. I was so glad to be able to help you.

Another great post! I wish I hadn’t lost my google ranking when I forwarded my blogspot.com URL to my new dot.com URL last year. My blog was at PR-3 now it’s back down to PR-1 because indexing had to start all over again with the new URL. Even BlogHer won’t touch me, but as always my Google is my biggest earner thanks to my Youtube channel.

That’s strange you lost page rank. If done properly, the redirect from Blogger to your own domain should transfer over your page rank with what’s called a 301 redirect. What a shame. How I think page rank is less important than it used to be. There used to be 4 updates a year, but this year – only 1 so far! Glad to hear YouTube is doing so well for you.
